Digital-video training

Are you ready for the future of the news industry? Join your Guild colleagues Sept. 21-23 for a class in Final Cut Pro 7, the digital-editing software used by many news organizations for online video.

The cost of the training is covered by a grant from CWA, the parent union of The Newspaper Guild. All you need is the time to attend: Because these skills can be useful on the job, some employers may even allow paid time off. (Make sure to request paid time off before taking vacation or unpaid time.)

Class size is limited to 8. If you're interested, please e-mail Yoko at seattleyoko@gmail.com. Signups will be taken until Aug. 31. If more than 8 people sign up, names will be drawn randomly to determine who gets the spots. (Our e-mail system can't notify everyone at the exact same time, and the differences in people's work hours and vacation schedules would put some people at a disadvantage in a first-come, first-served system.)
